Aging Eyes

“Think of the life you have lived until now as over and, as a dead man, see what’s left as a bonus and live it according to Nature. Love the hand that fate deals you and play it as your own, for what could be more fitting?” – Marcus Aurelius

If you’ve ever wondered, as this writer has on many an occasion – why are you still here, perhaps you might consider that maybe, just maybe, it is to allow others to discover the path you’ve been on, and in so doing, they find their path they’ve been searching for.

Look, I write about the absolute shit-show life has become nearly every night.  At 63 and looking back, I’ve had more than a few times when I should have been dead and long gone. But for some reason, for now, I’m still here. Why? Sometimes, I haven’t a scoobie-doo. Other times, after a couple of vodka with grapefruit juice cocktails, I might conclude I’m still here to do nothing more than sound the alarm, and maybe help another to see what aging eyes see, allowing others a glimpse into a path that maybe they’re not yet entirely familiar with…a path, hopefully, towards truth – no matter how nasty it might be…and from there, to do what inspires them to do.

But mostly, I think the reason I’m still here is to provide what care, compassion and love I can, whether it be in the words I write each night (with lots of “f**keries” scattered about) or in actions towards those in my life who are, for better or worse, stuck with me.

I could launch into the electromagnetic goo poisoning us, the pokes of chemical f**kery in the arm poisoning us, the absolute horse shit from government and corporate officials of shyte poisoning us – but I write of this f**kery almost every night.

Time for a break, if even for a day to ponder deeply of what Marcus Aurelius spoke of – that the life we have lived up unto this point is over, and what is left, is a bonus – and to live it according to Nature.

“It’s time you realized that you have something in you more powerful and miraculous than the things that affect you and make you dance like a puppet.” – Marcus Aurelius

It’s not the Christmas season yet, but no matter…tonight’s musical offering is offered for no other reason that it makes me feel joy…and in posting this Christmas musical gem, that you too will feel joy. 🙂 – no matter how smaltzy it may be. For how many more of these smalzty moments do you think we’ll be allowed to enjoy?  Cheers!
