Saturday Jazz

The better half here at the Asylum will gently chastise me from time to time for posting the following gem from the Cannonball Adderley Quintet, too frequently.

Alas, the favorite axiom of this elderly writer is…”mercy, mercy, mercy!” And as the modern era of f**kery continues…all I can continue to lament each day is…mercy, mercy, mercy!

Cannonball Adderley Quintet ~ “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” (1966)

As Mr. Adderley so eloquently states at the beginning of this live performance:  “You know – sometimes we’re not prepared for adversity. When it happens, sometimes we’re caught short. We don’t know exactly how to handle it when it comes up. Sometimes we don’t know, just what to do when adversity takes over. And I have advice for all of us… It sounds like what you’re suppose to say, when you have that kind of problem…it’s called…Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”!

Amen!
