Screw the New Year

“…you have to cherish the world at the same time that you struggle to endure it.” – Flannery O’Connor

The daily grind can become particularly gruesome during the holiday’s.

Time off from work means more time spent with relatives you haven’t seen since the last holiday merry-go-round that starts on Thanksgiving and doesn’t let up until the first week in January, when partakers of the ugly have finally had enough of the holiday (not Holy Day) ugliness, and succumb to the reality that if they want to spend next year’s holiday season steeped in the same BS they just had a rip-roaring time enduring that produced melt-downs, depression, shit-fits, and a host of other modern day malaise’s – well, they had better get back to work.

Don’t think that since the manufactured Christmas holiday of the modern era is over for this year, that the corporate shysters don’t have more depravity in store for you, enticing you to incur future credit card debt over:

LAS VEGAS (AP) — No other city does New Year’s Eve like Las Vegas.

Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Gwen Stefani are among the superstars who will be ushering in the new year with performances at venues on the Las Vegas Strip, while more than 300,000 people are expected to gather on the world-famous corridor Monday to watch eight minutes of fireworks.

At another celebration in the downtown Fremont Street entertainment district, 12 bands will play under a massive video canopy that will show the ball drop in New York’s Time Square. – via APnews.com

How utterly depressing!

The world we choose to cherish is far from the glittering nonsense of Las Vegas, ushering in yet another year of f**kery for insouciant souls to drink deeply of.

There are so many avenues to explore for our health, our mental awareness, for unadulterated food, for clean water…for a life far removed from the horseshit of the modern era – the following are just a taste of the them:

NaturalNews.com – sometimes a bit strange, but almost always providing a wealth of information on healing…the natural way.

Earthclinic.com – our favorite here at the Asylum to turn to for information on natural remedies to heal our bodies, our hearts and minds.

PaulCraigRoberts.org – the fearless teller of truth

CaitlinJohnstone.com – if only I could write as this goddess of truth reporting

21stCenturyWire.com – you will not find more honest and balanced reporting anywhere

ConsortiumNews.com – Robert Parry’s site – in a word – brilliant!

GlobalResearch.ca – sublime

theCrowhouse.com – Max Igan’s site – magnificent!

RichieAllen.Co.Uk.com – just give him a ear – you won’t be disappointed.

These are the ways that Ms. O’Connor spoke of (at least, in our thinking) of the avenues to cherish the world as you struggle to endure it.

And if none of these work for you…consider the composition of a musical masterpiece, from a human not much different than ourselves…suffering, alone, and completely deaf, who provided the world with a path that might ease our souls into the next life…whatever that might be…

  1. New Years in Las Vegas? It sounds like an overcrowded nightmare if you ask me! No thank you! I’ll probably spend mine in the comfort of my own home, sipping raspberry tea and perusing those wonderful links you posted! 🙂 Happy New Year to you!
