How We Treat Our Own

When one sees the ugliness that life each day, in any of its various forms – war, poverty, homelessness, sicknesses, disease – the blind eye becomes one’s best friend to avoid thinking about the ugliness of life for more than a couple of seconds, which might lead one to doing something about the carnage others endure. If what we see and instantly comprehend at a gut level is so abhorrent to us that we need to immediately “unsee” it, lest a human’s higher virtues of compassion, empathy and kindness kick in, spurring us to some type of action to assist our fellow human travelers – what we see and understand as depravity, is depravity….and most often the cause of it is doing precisely what our blind eye tells us to do…which is nothing.

(ANTIWAR.COM) — A Swedish call at the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire in the Yemen port of Hodeidah was derailed during a closed session Friday. The US and Britain both expressed opposition to the measure, designed to prevent Saudi-led forces attacking a port responsible for feeding 8.4 million civilians.

Another war with the financial backing of Washington. And the world looks away, with hundreds of more deaths and the rages of cholera raging on in Yemen.

Like the new neighbor who moves into the home next to you (if you’re lucky enough to have a home) bringing with them not just one or two who will live in the house, but their friends, relatives, acquaintances, hook-up partners and other assorted human stray cats, and all associated paraphernalia – the neighborhood quickly becomes a cesspool of human activity that even real stray cats will avoid.  So too, Washington orders up wars in lands far away, levels cities and towns, end innocents’ lives and turn their blind eye toward the destruction they’ve brought and continue to bring to neighborhoods far away.

Meanwhile, seemingly not content with destroying other countries, Washington casts its calloused eye upon its own.

$717 Billion of taxpayer monies given to the military industrial complex – this just for one fiscal year – for more of their fun and frolic of war activities while America’s own wallow in the destructiveness that comes from poverty, homelessness, unemployment, lack of decent paying jobs, lack of healthcare, and if even covered by healthcare plans, hesitant to seek the medical treatment needed due to exorbitant deductibles – the apathetic eye of our government to the sufferings of its own citizens continues to be felt in cities throughout the country:

Tourists Shocked by What They See on San Francisco Streets – via

Did nobody bother to Google the city they were about to visit? Before you make a trip to San Francisco, see the following:

From SF Gate: It’s something many San Franciscans see on a daily basis, outside their homes or offices and during their commutes. For better or for worse, locals are used to walking by crime scenes, have seen open injection drug use, and have witnessed mental health episodes firsthand.

But when a tourist lands at SFO, guidebook in hand, that reality can be shocking.

And this is just one American city.

Trump and his administration can crow on about jobless numbers (that are a sham) while an abandoned Macy’s is now a homeless shelter for it former employees; they can shout until blue in the face that Washington cares about peace while it continues to drop 121 bombs each day on sovereign nations; and they can continue to assert Washington’s value of all human life, while they rip the children from immigrants parents, saying that it’s actually very biblical to enforce the law.

What particular form of vermin is needed to maintain Washington’s penchant toward pure evil only the demons know for sure.

But the world cries out for one thing, and that is the hope that Washington will take its evil and leave their neighborhood.

Sadly, there is little hope that the psychopath’s in Washington will leave any neighborhood they’ve laid to ruins in lands far away and turn their gaze toward the suffering of their own.

It remains up to each of us to end the apathy of Washington and do all we can to wrest away their power and do as our gut of compassion tells us to do – that being, to look up  from one’s propaganda device long enough to understand that we are here to help one another through this quagmire of horseshit, and do what we can to end the dominance of a few who haven’t a care about anyone or anything other than their own lust for more.
