“We have been told that man is the only animal that knows nothing, and can learn nothing without being taught. He can neither speak nor walk nor eat nor do anything at the prompting of nature except weep.
During the rush of centuries we have been taught many things, but our weeping did not diminish as our knowledge increased. Tears of despondency, failure, frustration, self-pity, helplessness and fear are as common today as when Homer cried that among all creatures that breathe on earth and crawl on it there is not anywhere a thing more dismal than man.” Og Mandino – “The Choice”
Apathetic or bad choices, made over and over and over again, lead to hardship, heartbreak…and if left unchecked, out and out insanity…
The Trump administration’s defense secretary, former Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis, rolled out a new National Defense Strategy Friday that signals open preparations by US imperialism for direct military confrontation with nuclear-armed Russia and China.
In what appeared to be a threat directed against both Russia and China, Mattis warned, “If you challenge us, it will be your longest and worst day.”
“Today, we are emerging from a period of strategic atrophy, aware that our competitive military advantage has been eroding,” the document states. “We are facing increased global disorder, characterized by decline in the long-standing rules-based international order—creating a security environment more complex and volatile than any we have experienced in recent memory. Inter-state strategic competition, not terrorism, is now the primary concern in U.S. national security.”
The Pentagon’s aim, according to the defense strategy, is to ensure that the US remains “the preeminent military power in the world” able to “ensure the balance of power remains in our favor,” “advance an international order that is most conducive to our security and prosperity” and “preserve access to markets.” – Via Russia-Insider.com
Scum, dung, excrement – you name the nastiness – this is what we have to deal with. Our choices, or just continued apathy, have led us here.

People Are Now Vaping Tide Pods and I Don’t Want to Live on This Planet Anymore – via antimedia.org
The U.S. military just paid $642 million to a corporate welfare whore to conduct a missile test, the Trump administration has signaled its intent to occupy Syria indefinitely, civilians are dying by the thousands, the latest Fed chair appointee is an establishment banker who has long advocated raising the debt ceiling, the big banks were just given a free pass again, and Congress just approved an extension of warrantless surveillance in a rare show of bipartisanship.
But we’re too busy to worry about any of that. Americans would rather eat Tide pods to get attention on social media. YouTube is taking down Tide pod challenge videos in an effort to slow the trend, and stores are now locking the forbidden fruit in anti-theft cabinets.
The problem is so severe that mainstream media outlets are having to break off chunks of time normally allotted to sowing societal division and fear-mongering the public about nuclear war and terrorism to advise people they should not ingest toxic chemicals produced by a massive global conglomerate that spends millions of dollars lobbying the government every year and is no stranger to toxic products.
Choices of allowing absolute rot to fill our heads day in and day out – never questioning what is being told to us, or accepting carte blanche, the lies, propaganda and filth of hardship and death being sold to us each day – what we are now left with is absolute insanity – not only for ourselves, but for all whom we hold dear to our hearts – children, parents, friends, lovers and every significant other, both past and present.
But as Og Mandino ended his book “the Choice” with – there are options to all this madness, if we but individually start to make choices – the right choices.
“Choice! The key is choice. You have options. You need not spend your life wallowing in failure, ignorance, grief, poverty, shame and self-pity…
…So many of us spend our lives searching for happiness. Like children hunting Easter eggs, we dash hither and yon hoping to discover some mystical bluebird. Life would be so different, we sigh, if only we were happy. And so, one hurries home to be happy and another flees home to be happy. One is getting married to be married and another is getting divorced to be happy. One takes expensive cruises to be happy and another labors overtime to be happy. Endless search. Wasted years. Madness. Always the moon is out of reach, the fruit not quite ripe, the wine too dry. Shadows. Our pillow knows the truth.”
Whether we want to be left with only a beautiful sadness of what life could have been or come out of the modern coma we’ve been subjected to and make a better life for us and all our loved ones is the choice left to each of us individually to make … as long as we still have the opportunity to make choices.
