Bach – Allabreve in D major BWV 589 – Koopman | Netherlands Bach Society

In this Allabreve in D major, performed here by Ton Koopman for All of Bach, Bach shows he had a thorough command of both the stile antico and the modern style within Baroque music, and could use them as he wished. Rhythmically the organ work remains ‘antico’ – old style. But harmonically, it becomes gradually more adventurous. Stile antico, yes, but in a modern guise. – Netherlands Bach Society
