Just because your friends are out binge-drinking at 2:00 a.m. and beyond, doesn’t mean that the world stops spinning its insanity while they spent the weekend recovering from assaulting their bodies with alcohol, laughing at inane, mental-midget quips from friends or future lovers they just met at the bar, only to wonder the next day when a somewhat clearer mind comes to bear, “what in the hell was I doing” – the insanity outside their own personal insanity rages on.
While we patiently (and sometimes impatiently) wait for the end of this grand comedy, at times imploring help from the gods, or God, or the dolphins out blissfully swimming in the ocean, laughing at all of us – we await the coming of something better. Not different, mind you…but better.
It appears we will have to wait for the “hereafter” for something better.
And it appears the “hereafter” fast approaches.

It doesn’t take a genius to understand that America and the West have become some sort of grand celestial experiment gone terribly awry – it only takes someone paying attention, and so few are these days. We are living in a country that is beyond its expiration date, hoping that no one pops the lid to see the goo lurking inside.
From relatively famous quips from the POTUS, known to the few thinking Americans left, that the U.S. will be leaving Syria very soon, only to have the self-proclaimed geniuses with the moniker of working for mainstream media where 90% of what Americans see and hear on their television’s or radio’s is controlled by 6 mega-corporations, letting him know that the military is saying it isn’t finished with ISIS just yet, conveniently forgetting that Washington basically created and funded ISIS, it takes a special kind of ignorance and arrogance to proclaim bullshit to be true and then more ignorance and arrogance to correct him that his bullshit just ain’t so and their bullshit is better.
The guy with orange hair was going to close military bases overseas, was going to improve relations with Russia, was going to bring our troops home from the senseless wars that Washington continues to inflict on sovereign nations, and just like soggy bread that one doesn’t want to touch, Trump’s campaign promises were nothing more than the horseshit campaign promises – just like those of his predecessor who promised to close Guantanamo Bay but evidently got sidetracked believing his own BS and went on to oversee 8 more years of ending the lives of thousands. There’s a sucker born every minute and these charlatans never doubt that 99.9% of the populace can be counted on believing their manure. Seems to be working and has been for some time.
Trump, and his latest cabinet appointees who seem to revel in insanity, torture, ending the lives of innocents and about everything else that humans with souls find sick; things that are hideous to those who live by truth, love and respect of all life – the psychopath’s continue with their circus act of a Jedi-mind trick that supports the nation-ending maxim of: “Might makes right”, along with 2 traits that all Western leaders seem to share in the modern era…complete ignorance combined with stunning arrogance. It’s quite a combo. And it’s worked for years and years.
As the end to the grand comedy seems to be within sight due to the psychopath’s in the West we continue to elect year after year after year – those few sane folks left might want to know how to cast aside the lunatic ideas from assholes of how grand life can be when its their version of hell for all life on earth. Is there any way to expel such demons…if only for a few hours of the day?
H.L. Mencken had an idea many years ago:
“Moreover, there is no need to admit that the moderate alcoholization of the whole race would materially reduce the duration of life. A great many of us are moderately alcoholized already, and yet manage to survive quite as long as the blue-noses. As for the blue-noses themselves, who would repine if breathing alcohol-laden air brought them down with delirium tremens and so sterilized and exterminated them? The advantage to the race in general would be obvious and incalculable. All the worst strains – which now not only persist, but even prosper – would be stamped out in a few generations, and so the average human being would move appreciably away from, say, the norm of a Baptist clergyman in Georgia and toward the norm of Shakespeare, Mozart and Goethe. It would take aeons, of course, to go all the way, but there would be progress with every generation, slow but true. Today, it must be manifest, we make no progress at all; instead we slip steadily backward. That the average civilized man of today is inferior to the average civilized man of two or three generations ago is too plain to need arguing. He has less enterprise and courage; he is less resourceful and various; he is more like a rabbit and less like a lion. Harsh oppressions have made him what he is. He is the victim of tyrants. Well, not many with two or three cocktails in him is a tyrant. He may be foolish, but he is not cruel. He may be noisy, but he is also tolerant, generous and kind. My proposal would restore Christianity to the world. It would rescue mankind from moralists, pedants and brutes.” – H.L. Mencken – “A Mencken Chrestomathy”
Sadly, the modern era, under Mencken’s proposal, if duly inebriated most of the time – people in the West would more than likely continue on with their delirious dedication to following what the little screen on their cell phone tells them to do…no matter their levels of pleasant intoxication, and no matter the fate that may await them due to their own ignorance, arrogance and apathy.
Past generations had a better idea of who Shakespeare, Mozart and Goethe were and the ideals they represented. They, by knowledge passed down and celebrated from previous generations, knew the value of, and appreciated beauty and truth. Current generations might be hard-pressed to even know who Shakespeare, Mozart and Goethe were. Current generations are hard-pressed to celebrate anything that isn’t ugly.
And so, while America wilts away toward accepting the nightmares of an avalanche of shit from leaders, whom, when one awakens each morning, and being somewhat sober, come to understand their government representatives are nothing more, nothing less than psychopath’s leading us all toward annihilation – they might want to cast their glance away from their modern day electronic enslavement for a microsecond and seek heavenly or other worldly refuge.
There may be few of us left…but there are still some among us in America who know of Mozart, Shakespeare, Goethe, Dostoevsky, Twain, Orwell, Beethoven, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, MLK, Malcolm X, JFK, Tolstoy and all others who have warned us of the depravities of soul-less men and women and where they might lead us to, or who have, at least, created beauty and celebrated truth.
But Mr. Mencken must have been onto something. As the psychopath’s continue to beat their war-drums, propagandizing the population in the West into a collective frenzy to support war, war and more war…it might be advantageous to have plenty of vodka (or the liquor of your choice) on hand. Something is needed to dull the senses just a bit as you look up to the skies and realize that the collective ignorance and arrogance of psychopath’s has brought you and your loved ones, to the hereafter sooner, rather than later.
“Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out…and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel. ..And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for “the universal brotherhood of man”–with his mouth.” ~ Mark Twain – “What Is Man?”
