When one’s mind has been brainwashed into believing that it is normal for their country to be at war since 2001 with countries that have neither threatened nor invaded their own country; brainwashed into believing that arguing, belittling and demeaning any opinion that differs from their “leaders” and media presstitues’ warmongering beliefs; sentencing other’s sons and daughters to die in far away lands for the enrichment of a few and laying to waste millions of innocents lives in other countries in the process is part of the “everyday” here in America – it will naturally seem “normal” to hear that your loving government has decided, via the Department of Homeland Security, that compiling a database of journalists and “media influencers” is a fine idea.
In today’s installment of “I’m Not Terrified, You Are,” Bloomberg Law reports on a FedBizOpps.gov posting by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with the relatively benign-sounding subject, “Media Monitoring Services.”
Every day, journalists face serious consequences including physical violence, imprisonment and death. A few days ago, the Committee to Protect Journalists launched its annual Free The Press campaign to raise awareness about imprisoned journalists throughout the world. On May 3, UNESCO will once again mark World Press Freedom Day “to inform citizens of violations of press freedom — a reminder that in dozens of countries around the world, publications are censored, fined, suspended and closed down, while journalists, editors and publishers are harassed, attacked, detained and even murdered.”
Meanwhile, the United States government, traditionally one of the bastions of press freedom, is about to compile a list of professional journalists and “top media influencers,” which would seem to include bloggers and podcasters, and monitor what they’re putting out to the public.
…Regarding the DHS media database, we are entering potentially dangerous territory with the government keeping track of the “sentiment” of citizens and foreign nationals. If not legal challenges from organizations that defend press freedom and freedom of speech interests, the government should expect, at the very least, backlash from the public.
And that means you. If you think the idea of the U.S. government’s compiling and monitoring a list of media professionals and “top media influencers” is a potential threat to democracy, now would be the perfect time to call your local and congressional representatives to let them know how much you value a free press and the freedom of speech, just in case they’ve forgotten.
How many vodka tonics will it take to calm down any person left in this country with a working brain, compassionate heart and living soul upon hearing such guano? More than a few.
As with any totalitarian dictatorship, freedom of the press, along with the truth, are always the first to be jettisoned. Shyte like the truth and freedom of speech tends to get in the way of questioning psychopath’s who want to lead the world to ruin.
A free press might question a psychopath’s statement, such as the following latest insanity from a twit:
‘Russia Will Never Be Our Friend, We’ll Slap Them When We Need To’ – Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN – via yournewswire.com
Ah! Such diplomacy, such wisdom – the rods of golden vomit spews from her mouth.
And, of course, we can’t have anyone questioning such thinking that originates from Hell. Any dissident voice protesting such insanity might just get you on a government database list of people who still have a soul…and who knows what might happen to you from there. But we have an idea of what might happen...history is rife with examples of what happens to those who question the putrid thinking of totalitarian nutjobs.
According to the UN envoy, the US is doing “two things Russia would never want us to do,” namely enlarging the military and expanding its energy policy. “So, this president has done more against Russia than any president since Reagan,” she asserted.
“You haven’t seen the end of what this administration will do to Russia. You will continue to see that play out,” she stressed.
Cooling down the degree of Russia-bashing in her speech, Haley said the US and Russia do cooperate on Afghanistan and Africa, looking out for areas of mutual interest. Meanwhile, she claimed, “our relations with Russia depend solely on Russia.” via yournewswire.com
What a grand way of thinking. The US has enlarged its military and energy policy by spending $700 Billion+ in 2018 alone, financed on debt, towards more death and destruction. And that figure doesn’t account for the $5.6 TRILLION Washington has spent on the “war on terror” to date.
Meanwhile, its citizens suffer in continued poverty, homelessness and exorbitant healthcare costs (which that evil country, Russia, whom the twit Haley thinks Washington can slap around at whim, provides free for its citizens.)
And if Washington, and the likes of dimwits like Haley, continue to think that they can slap around Russia whenever the mood makes their legs tingle…they might want to think again.
Yes, everything that is good depends on Russia, since Washington is nothing more than a pit of snakes who have no understanding of love, compassion, diplomacy, getting along, avoiding war, or belief in living and letting others live. Psychopath’s have no understanding of goodness – they never have and never will. It might be safe to assume that the continuation of the life on the planet depends on Russia.
Not that many years ago, there were places for deranged idiots like Haley, Bolton, Pompeo and evidently, Trump, who continues to employ demons who advance the destruction of others – they were called sanitorium’s. Today, it’s called Washington.
So make sure you enjoy reading and reading and reading about puppies and kittens – for if you choose to exercise your brain a bit to read differing viewpoints, to hear of the culture and lives of human beings in other countries that aren’t locked in the mind-meld of Washington’s lunacy – if you raise your voice to stop the senseless wars, if you have a heart and soul that demands your government put the needs of its citizens ahead of the destruction of sovereign nations, and above all, if you seek the truth…watch out. You might find yourself on a “list” and from there – well, it probably won’t be pleasant.
Such, it appears, is the future of life in the United States.
Tonight’s musical offering:
Hmmm, let’s see… a musical masterpiece composed by a Russian, performed by a brilliant violinist from the Netherlands, with a superb conductor from Estonia, conducting an extremely talented orchestra from Paris, and who knows the nationalities of all the orchestra members – and they all got along to create art, goodwill and inspiration! Will Washington tolerate such beauty in the future?
Tchaikovsky – Violin Concerto – Janine Jansen – Orchestre de Paris/Paavo Järvi (final magnificent moments)
While, in America, as you’re still allowed to listen to such diversity (for the time being) consider putting headphones on with volume cranked for maximum sensory enjoyment!
