Beethoven may not have been the most gracious of individuals. A temperament more suited to maybe bull-fighting or Rugby than creating some of the most beautiful music that humanity has been blessed with, he still managed to take a break from waging war with life’s demons (musical and otherwise) and provided us with a pastoral daydream, showcasing his love and appreciation of nature.
Beethoven’s Pastoral is no musical cul-de-sac, writes Tom Service. It’s a radical work, and in its final movement is music more purely spine-tingling and life-enhancingly joyful than almost anywhere else in his output. – via theguardian.com
“How delighted I will be to ramble for awhile through the bushes, woods, under trees, through grass, and around rocks. No one can love the country as much as I do. For surely woods, trees, and rocks produce the echo that man desires to hear.” ~ Beethoven

Happy Thanksgiving! I know it was yesterday but I didn’t get a chance to read blogs until today…. Hope you had an excellent meal! Also, Henry looks extremely comfortable. I don’t think I’ve ever been that relaxed and comfortable in my entire life. LOL!
