Wait…wuuut? The Don has been in office for a couple of weeks already, wasn’t he going to end the war in Ukraine on day 1 of his presidency? Evidently not.
Well, if you’re going to keep the war and its’ killings of innocents going, might as well get something out of it, right?
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Monday indicated that he wants to reach an agreement with Ukraine to gain access to the country’s rare earth materials as a condition for continuing U.S. support for its war against Russia.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump complained that the U.S. had sent more in military and economic assistance to Ukraine than its European partners, adding, “We’re looking to do a deal with Ukraine where they’re going to secure what we’re giving them with their rare earth and other things.”
Trump suggested that he’s received word from the Ukrainian government that they’d be willing to make a deal to give the U.S. access to the elements critical to the modern high-tech economy.
“I want to have security of rare earth,” Trump added. “We’re putting in hundreds of billions of dollars. They have great rare earth. And I want security of the rare earth, and they’re willing to do it.”
There it is. Genius thinking at work that few can understand. Instead of just stopping the funding the U.S. provides, let’s keep the war going and you there in Ukraine give us the ‘great rare earth’ you’re sitting on.
Trump, who had previously said he’d bring about a rapid end to the war, said talks are ongoing to bring the conflict to a close.
“We made a lot of progress on Russia, Ukraine,” Trump said. “We’ll see what happens. We’re going to stop that ridiculous war.”
Let’s see. We’re going to stop this ridiculous war or we’ll continue to support the war if you give us your dirt and other earthly gems. I guess take your pick.
In other news…
This past weekend the Trumpmeister enacted tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico. Today, that shit was dispensed with, probably because tariffs, in reality, suck.
In what is a carbon copy of Trump’s tariff-delaying deal with Mexico, moments ago Canada’s outgoing PM, Justin Trudeau, said that he too had bent the knee, i.e. had a “good call” with Trump, and that US tariffs on Canada would be paused for 30 days after Canada – just like Mexico – agreed to send 10,000 troops to the border as part of a $1.3 billion border plan which “reinforces the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl”. – zerohedge.com

President Donald Trump shocked the world today by doing the unthinkable: He used “emergency powers” to issue an executive order to impose 25% tariffs on all imports from Mexico and Canada, the two largest trade partners with the United States, violating his own Free Trade Agreement between the two countries that he signed into law in 2018, during his first term.
What is the reason that Trump gave to declare this “national emergency” to ignore and violate his own trade agreement with Canada and Mexico?
Trump invoked the International Emergency Economics Power Act (IEEPA) because of “The extraordinary threat posed by illegal aliens and drugs, including fentanyl.”
Really?
This was actually the first time I have read about the “extraordinary threat posed by illegal aliens and drugs” coming across the border from Canada!
I looked up the stats on seized illegal fentanyl coming into the U.S. from 2024, and there were about 21,000 lbs. of illegal fentanyl seized at U.S. borders, and out of that 21,000 lbs., 50 lbs. came from Canada. – healthimpactnews.com
At least there will be poutine-loving soldiers lining the border.

Unlike yesterday’s hearing, today’s hearing focused extensively on Kennedy’s views on vaccines and vaccine safety. Kennedy responded to claims he is “anti-vaccine” and “anti-industry.”
“I’m neither. I’m pro-safety. I’m pro-good science,” Kennedy said. “We should always follow the evidence no matter what it says.” Kennedy said he wouldn’t “impose” his opinions on HHS scientists. Instead, he would support examining “all the data” by empowering HHS scientists to do their job.
“We will have the best vaccine standards, with safety studies,” Kennedy said.
Much of the discussion about vaccines centered on rising autism rates, with Kennedy noting that they have increased from 1 in 10,000 to as high as 1 in 34, calling this an “explosion” that public health agencies have long overlooked.
Kennedy referred to a recent peer-reviewed study of 47,000 9-year-olds to respond to claims by members of the committee that the link between autism and vaccines has been definitively debunked.
