“The story so far: In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.” ― Douglas Adams
Thanks for this, Decker. Had the great pleasure of experiencing Brubeck live – twice: 1964/5, Vancouver (incl an open Sat morn workshop with his blind drummer, Joe Morello) and 1983, Montreux Jazz Fest., Switz.
Keep well,
Lou Cassivi
Don’t know if you’re a fan of cathedral choirs, but these are two of my favourite pieces, and choirs. (Especially when the shitfuckery from the psychofucks gets me down)
Wow, Lou! Thank you for all you’ve shared. Seeing Brubeck not once, but twice…in the 60’s, and then a workshop with Joe Morello…that must have been some kind of cool! I saw Brubeck but it was in the early 80’s. He was doing a charity event, and my girlfriend at the time, was a New Yorker and knew Marian McPartland. Through her, we got a couple of back stage passes and I got to meet Brubeck. Just exchanging names and a handshake and that was it. But still, nice. My brother, God rest his soul, was a drummer and loved Joe Morello. And I absolutely love cathedral choirs. Thank you so much for the choice selections you’ve sent along. I’ll be listening to them more than a few times. Fantastic stuff, Lou! Thanks again! Cheers to you and yours!
